Spanish gambling operator CIRSA has posted its 72nd consecutive quarter of growth, with second-quarter revenue climbing 10% year-on-year to €637m as the early stages of the 2026 World Cup delivered a significant boost to its betting operations.

The Q2 2026 results marked a breakthrough for the conglomerate in several areas. Adjusted net profit jumped 55% to €75m, while EBITDA crossed the €200m threshold for the first time in a single quarter, reaching €202m compared to €186.8m the previous year.

The World Cup, which covered only its early knockout stages by the end of June, proved a major catalyst for CIRSA’s digital operations. The tournament drove a 3.6-fold increase in first-time depositors, a 96% rise in unique active players, and a 3.1-fold jump in new registered users.

Sports betting turnover increased 10.8% during the quarter, benefiting from Spain’s national team advancing through what would become a winning World Cup campaign for the operator’s home market.

Online Sector Outperforms

CIRSA’s online operations delivered particularly strong performance, with net revenue growing organically by 14.9% in Q2. Across the full first half of 2026, online turnover climbed 22.4%.

Retail operations also contributed to growth, with revenue up 10.2% in the quarter. For the six-month period ending June 30, the company reported net revenue of €1.26bn, up 9.1% year-on-year, and EBITDA of €396m, an increase of 8.4%.

Regional Growth and Expansion

Geographically, CIRSA posted 12.1% growth in Latin America and a 7.7% increase in its Spanish home market.

The operator expanded its footprint in Paraguay through the acquisition of Slots del Sol, described as the country’s leading online casino with a 50% market share. The deal has reportedly delivered a 66% bump in average revenue per user and 57% growth in active players.

In Portugal, CIRSA completed a purchase of Casino Figueira, marking its first casino property in the country as part of an omnichannel strategy.

The company’s €375m refinancing completed during the period cut financial costs by 40% and extended debt maturity, with total net debt now standing at €2.07bn.

With the quarter capturing only the early stages of the World Cup, the full impact of the tournament’s climax is expected to feature in Q3 results.
